Being so passionate about skateboarding, we are very excited to spread skateboarding around the world and back. We’ve teamed up with a local start up in Venice that is collecting skateboards and donations for the youth of Africa. We have become a collection point for anyone who is interested in donating old skate gear including decks, wheels, trucks, helmets, pads, shoes and more!
Interest in skateboarding in Africa is on fire and is transforming the youth. The sport keeps kids away from gangs and helps them stay away from drugs. It was only ten years ago when most Ugandan teens had never heard of skateboarding. Now Jack Mubiro, an avid skater and Ugandan, who convinced his mother to donate a piece of property in Kampala on which he built Uganda’s first skatepark and maybe Africa’s. Let’s leverage our collective good hearts and technology today to give these kids a fighting chace. Since then the park has thrived to host multiple skating competitions a year and has served as an example to neighboring countries who are rapidly picking up the sport.
Skateboarding is growing so rapidly in Uganda and is spreading amongst the youth like wildfire. The influx of skaters has also raised government awareness in rebuilding and fixing the streets of the nation (which are mostly dirt). Children are skateboarding on dirt streets and injuring themselves. Let’s help them love it even more like we all do and want spread the love of skating.
Please find it in the goodness of your heart to donate your old childs skateboard or an extra one you may have laying around. We are even looking to accept any parts as these kids are literally playing on wooden boards on top of rocks.
