|  | Here are some highlights from the Globe at the Gaps Skateboard competition, the first in the ZJ Boarding House skate series this Summer. This one took place at the end of Ocean Park Blvd, the sand gaps, a popular beach-side skate spot. ZJ Boarding House, Indie on the Westside & Stoked Mentoring collaborate once again to present The Stoked Summer Series. Every Thursday night starting June 24th and throughout the month of July, The Air Condition Supper Club will be the spot. Surf movies, live music, art and great raffle prizes will bring us together and it's for a great cause. Stoked Mentoring is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop successful teens with opportunity, knowledge, experience, and determination–STOKED–through action sports and mentoring. All the money raised in the raffles will help everybody stoked so a donation will help put a smile on faces and might just win you a brand new wetsuit! The first night will be with our friends from Hurley. These guys are always putting on a good party, so don't miss an exclusive showing of "The Union Express" and live musical performance by Timmy Curran. Another successful night of art, music, friends and libations at ZJ Boarding House. Malibu's local Freedom Artist, Cody Setzer–and partner in crime, Pascal Stansfield–arrived with armfuls of canvas work and cases of Primo last Friday night at ZJ Boarding House. We quickly set up Cody's surf and sea inspired artwork and iced the beer.  His work is simple in regards to subjective environments and meaning. However, Cody's technique is expressively applied and successfully conveys individual scenic emotions. A musical set by OWLS capped off the night while the store was packed with friends, late night shoppers and a few randoms. Justin Cefai and Graham Harrington's dexterous finger-picking and melodic intertwining earned them street-cred and a growing fan-base, as this was their first live performance. We're proud supporting local up-and-coming artists and are going to continue utilizing Last Friday on Main St. as a platform to do so. SANTA MONICA PIER PADDLEBOARD RACE
Saturday, June 12th 8am-4pm | Â  | 
| Kick off summer with the Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race, featuring up to 250 paddle contestants, outrigger canoe and dory boat demonstration competitions as well as a paddle gear exhibition. The event is a benefit for Heal the Bay, an environmental nonprofit dedication toward making Southern California's coastal waters and watersheds–including the Santa Monica Bay–safe, healthy and clean.
The start and finish of the races will take place on the sand immediately adjacent to the pier with the course running north and south in the heart of the Santa Monica Bay. The standup paddle and prone paddleboard races feature 5.5 mile and 1 mile courses, both of which take paddlers around the historic Santa Monica Pier.
For the dory competition, area lifeguards will row fiberglass rescue boats in both a 1 mile sprint and a crowd-pleasing 3 lap race through the surf zone. The dory competition is presented in cooperation with the National Doryman’s Association.
On the pier deck, manufacturers will show off the latest in paddleboards, accessories and clothing. An award ceremony will follow completion of the races for top finishers in each division.
